24 Foundation celebrated the 16th year of its signature fundraiser – 24 Hours of Booty presented by Levine Cancer Institute – with a record-breaking event. To date, the charity cycling and inaugural walking event has raised more than $1,730,000 to help support cancer survivorship and patient navigation programs. More than $18.7 million has been raised since the event’s inception in 2002.

“Hats off to our participants for hitting it out of the park in funds raised so far this year!,” said Brittany Wilson, interim executive director of 24 Hours of Booty. “We appreciate our amazing community of riders, walkers, cancer survivors and their loved ones, volunteers, sponsors, spectators and Myers Park neighbors for their participation, enthusiasm and support in helping change the course of cancer, literally in the backyard of our event.”

On July 28-30, 1,400 registered participants from 24 different states rode and walked in Charlotte’s Myers Park neighborhood along the famed “Booty Loop” to help change the course of cancer. When not riding or walking, participants hung out in “Bootyville” (a.k.a. Myers Park Traditional School and Queens University of Charlotte) for camping, food and fun. The event also included entertainment and a Survivor Panel Breakfast.

The event was supported by more than 300 volunteers and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department representatives were stationed along the course at all times. Beneficiaries include: Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Cancer Institute, Levine Children’s Hospital, the Keep Pounding Fund, Queens University of Charlotte, and the LIVESTRONG Foundation.
