The second annual Cow Patty 5K & Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Rolesville High School (RHS) Rams stadium, 1099 E. Young Street, Rolesville. The new 5K Walk/Run starts at 9 a.m. and the Family Fun Day activities are from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Admission to the Cow Patty event costs $5 and includes one chance to win $500. A local cow will roam the football field, which is marked off in 3’ x 3’ squares corresponding to the numbered tickets sold, until it drops a patty on a square. If more than one square is soiled, the one with the largest deposit will be declared the winner. If no cow patty is dropped, one winning ticket will be drawn before 4 p.m. Ticket purchasers need not be present to win.

Organized by the Rolesville Athletic Club (RAC), Inc., proceeds from the day-long event will be used for sports equipment, uniforms and costs for Rolesville High School athletic programs not covered by the Wake County Public School System, such as activity buses. Attendees will enjoy food, games, a live band, vendor booths, door prizes, raffles and other family-oriented activities.

The new 5K run/walk will be on a USATF-certified course on the RHS grounds and adjacent roadways. Race registration is $30 and an optional commemorative t-shirt can be purchased for an additional $10. Online race registration must be completed by midnight on May 3, 2015, by visiting racnc.com/cowpatty. Same day registration will be available as circumstances permit.

“The event represents a fun and entertaining way for the Rolesville community and surrounding areas to support its student athletes,” said Ronnie Peoples, a member of the RAC, Inc. board of directors. “We’re hoping the addition of the Cow Patty 5K run/walk will attract more families to the event.”
