Owner Anthony Blackman of Atlantic Tire & Service, a locally owned and operated automotive service provider in the Triangle, has been honored with the 2017 Ed Wagner Leadership Award from the Tire Industry Association (TIA), a leader in tire safety.

The Ed Wagner Leadership Award is presented to individuals or companies that demonstrate leadership or innovation in products and services that foster and promote the tire, retreading and/or tire recycling industries.

Blackman has been a strong influence in the local market for more than 30 years. Since opening its doors in Cary, North Carolina, in 1998, Atlantic Tire has opened two more stores located in Raleigh and Durham. Sales of the Raleigh location have topped $6 million since opening in 2009 and total sales for all three Atlantic Tire & Service locations topped $9 million in 2013. Atlantic Tire will be opening a fourth store in Wake Forest in January 2018.

Blackman is also an active member of multiple local Chambers of Commerce and has been honored with numerous business and community service awards, including the Cary Chamber’s Employer of the Year Award and both the Cary Chamber and Morrisville Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Award in recent years. Most recently, Atlantic Tire won the large business category in the Eastern Better Business Bureau award for 2013.

The TIA award inductions will take place at the Tire Industry Honors Awards Ceremony on Monday, October 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Paris Las Vegas Hotel.
