PROSHRED® Security and A Shred Ahead® are sponsoring the Better Business Bureau serving Eastern NC’s “Secure Your ID” Day event on Saturday, October 17, 2015. The two companies will provide free document shredding from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Coastal Federal Credit Union on St. Albans Drive.

PROSHRED® is a locally owned shredding company and is part of a nationally operated network that offers on-site document destruction and recycling services to businesses and consumers. Based in Durham, North Carolina, the family-owned A Shred Ahead® is the largest independent shredding company in the South.

“Identity theft incidents are becoming more prominent,” says Jim Klemes, PROSHRED general manager. “Shredding personal documents is a simple, yet effective way to reduce the risk of becoming a victim.”

“The ‘Secure Your ID’ Day event is one that all Triangle residents should take advantage of,” says John Chapman, co-owner of A Shred Ahead. “It’s a privilege to partner with BBB again to help protect people from identity theft.”

Participants are encouraged to bring up to three boxes or bags of documents that have been removed from binders. In addition to free document shredding, GEEP will be collecting electronic devices for secure destruction with the metal and plastic components being recycled. BBB will also provide tips and resources to help consumers protect their identity.
