Cafe Carolina Hosts Fundraiser for Special Olympics North Carolina

Cafe Carolina and Bakery is hosting the “A Sweet Way to Help” fundraiser to support Special Olympics North Carolina. From Aug. 25 to Oct. 2, all Cafe Carolina locations will offer fresh-baked Cafe Carolina cookies for $1 with a portion of proceeds benefitting Special Olympics North Carolina.

Cafe Carolina has partnered with Special Olympics North Carolina for many years. The cause is especially close to the heart of the Cafe Carolina team as there is at least one individual with intellectual disabilities working in every store and many of those are Special Olympics athletes.

“As a locally owned-and-operated business, supporting the local community and the people who live in it is very important to us,” said Ron Hines, co-owner of Cafe Carolina and Bakery. “Special Olympics North Carolina is a group that we’ve worked with for many years and that means very much to us. It’s a pleasure to get to support them again this year.”

In addition to financial support during the fundraising promotion, Cafe Carolina is also opening the doors of its Wells Fargo Center location and sponsoring the Special Olympics North Carolina annual Over the Edge event on Oct. 2 and 3. Over the Edge is an event in which supporters can rappel 30 stories down the Wells Fargo Center in downtown Raleigh.

All interested participants must raise at least $1,000 for Special Olympics North Carolina by the event date in order to be eligible to rappel. In addition to providing meals to rappellers and volunteers, the store – normally only open Monday through Friday – will be open for business to all spectators.
