The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) is hosting a blood drive in honor of BJ Correll on Friday, Sept. 11 at North Lincoln High School (2737 Lee Lawing Road). The drive will take place from 8:30AM – 1:30PM in the school gym.

A Denver, N.C. resident, Correll is currently at Levine Children’s Hospital where he is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was diagnosed in Sept. 2012 and then had a recurrence this past May. He has received many units of blood over the past three years. As part of his second round of treatment, he has received multiple units of blood, a unit of platelets and a blood transfusion.

To make an appointment for this blood drive, call Miranda Cole 704-351-8263 or log onto www.cbcc.us. Walk-ins are also welcome. All donors will receive a free T-shirt.

“Bringing the community together to donate blood is an impactful way to support BJ [Correll] and other local patients who are in need of life-saving blood products,” said Miranda Cole, a CBCC donor recruiter who is helping coordinate this blood drive. “We encourage people to come out and give just a few minutes of their time to donate blood.”
