Noted Physician and Author to Supervise Care at Retirement Community

SearStone, North Carolina’s newest continuing care retirement community, has hired David Fisher, M.D., MPH as medical director at Brittany Place, the community’s skilled nursing facility.

Dr. Fisher is board-certified in family medicine, geriatrics, and hospice and palliative medicine. In addition to overseeing medical operations at Brittany Place, he also visits the community’s Independent Community Clinic once a week to see the more independent and active residents.

As an advocate for patient empowerment, Dr. Fisher has been featured on Fox News, WPTF, Cary News and other media outlets, and authored the book “How to Keep Your Mom (And Yourself) Out of a Nursing Home – Seven Keys to Keeping Your Independence.” He also shares valuable health care information on his blog www.doctorfisher.com and through his Twitter account @DoctorFisher.

Dr. Fisher is a graduate of Rush Medical College in Chicago and earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed his residency in family medicine and clinical fellowship in geriatric medicine at Wake Forest University. Dr. Fisher is a member of the medical staff at Doctors Making Housecalls, one of the nation’s leading medical practices dedicated to helping patients age in place.
