Enterprising Women Welcomes Four New Members To Advisory Board

Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women magazine, has appointed Almira Bardai, Lindsay Nahmiache, Pamela Kan and Kris Miller to serve on the Enterprising Women advisory board. The board is comprised of a select group of women and men who support the publication and give back to the women business owners’ community by providing leadership, motivation and inspiration to thousands of women entrepreneurs across North America and around the world.

Bardai and Nahmiache are co-founders and partners of the award-winning Jive Communications and Jive PR, Inc. A seasoned, senior communications professional, Bardai has more than 17 years of experience creating powerful narratives for domestic and global brands. Her expertise lies in developing strategic communications and social media plans focused on brand experiences, brand awareness and user engagement. She has delivered results-driven campaigns for the likes of Granville Island Brewing, Flight Centre, Nike, Best Buy, Future Shop, Molson and TELUS. An advocate for leadership in business, Bardai is a recipient of Enterprising Women magazine's 2016 Enterprising Women of the Year Award and was a finalist for the 2014 Vancouver YWCA Women of Distinction Award. In addition, she is a thought leader on issues affecting the public relations industry and frequently appears as a commentator in the media. She is active as a philanthropist, entrepreneur and mentor in many organizations, including the Passion Foundation, Starlight Children's Foundation, Aga Khan Foundation Canada, SFU Beedie School of Business and Entrepreneurs’ Organization. PROFIT and Canadian Business recently named Bardai and Nahmiache to their annual W100 list of Canda’s Top Female Entrepreneurs.

Nahmiache has been recognized as one of Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women in Financial Post, as well as a 2016 Enterprising Women of the Year Award winner. She helps companies increase customer engagement through market positioning and measurable communications strategies. As co-founder and co-CEO of both Jive Communications in Canada and Jive PR, Inc., an award-winning public relations agency with locations in Vancouver, Toronto and Los Angeles, Nahmiache and her team are known for their ability to break through the communications clutter and craft a brand story that resonates with their client’s target audience. She is involved in her community as a course curriculum adviser for the University of British Columbia’s digital communications program, mentor for TiE Young Entrepreneurs through TiE Global, and member of the Women’s Executive Network and Forum for Women Entrepreneurs. One of Nahmiache’s biggest passions is fostering entrepreneurship and financial literacy in youth. She founded Gifted Goose Learning and built a financial literacy app called Pogo Pig Savings. Her enthusiasm for entrepreneurship shines, as she constantly pushes boundaries and believes that possibilities are endless.

Kan, president of Bishop-Wisecarver Group (BWG) since 2000, successfully runs this woman-owned family of WBENC-certified companies that works with other industrial companies to build complex mechanical sub-assemblies and manufacture specialty parts. Kan’s entrepreneurial vision and commitment to customer service, helped guide her to expand Bishop-Wisecarver by forming Black Diamond Manufacturing Company (BDM) in 2008 and WRW Engineering in 2012. Kan leads both BDM and WRW by directing all marketing efforts and managing the senior management team responsible for sales, finance, operations, engineering and IT, as well as handling the legal and trademark aspects of the companies. As one of the few female leaders in the manufacturing industry, Kan is active in numerous regional and national trade organizations, as well as STEM-focused and mentoring groups for new women business owners. Kan’s involvement includes: Special Advisor and Board member for the Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) Education Foundation; launched and upcoming chair of the Women & Minorities Sub-committee for the Power Transmission Distributor Association (PTDA), and Leadership Forum Committee Representative (FCR) for Astra RPO for WBENC. In addition, Kan currently serves as the executive committee chairman of the California Manufacturing and Technology Associations (CMTA) and was appointed by the governor of California to the California Workforce Development Board in 2012. Kan was selected as a recipient of the 2016 Enterprising Women of the Year Award, as well as the 2016 Mary Lehman MacLachlan Economic Empowerment Award from the Women President’s Organization (WPO).

Miller is the founder and CEO of Healthy Money Happy Life, a financial literacy and wellness company.
