Fairfield Harbour Partners With Resort Management Group To Host 12 Can Challenge To Help The Hungry

NEW BERN, N.C., Oct. 29, 2014 – Fairfield Harbour, a residential boating and golf community located 15 minutes from historic New Bern, has announced that its partner organization Resort Management Group (RMG), the resort destination management service for Fairfield Harbour, will host the 12 Can Challenge to bring food donations to those in need during the holidays. For the next 12 weeks until Friday, Dec. 12, participants are asked to purchase an extra nonperishable item while grocery shopping to donate to the drive. Donations will be accepted at the drop-off box in the RMG administration office located at 475 Broad Creek Road.

At the conclusion of the challenge, RMG team members will take all of the food collected to Religious Community Services (RCS), a faith-based organization that addresses the basic needs of the New Bern community by providing food, clothing and shelter to those in need. RCS will use the 12 Can Challenge donations towards its food pantry, which provides families in need with one week’s food for at-home preparation. RCS has over 300 volunteers on hand to organize meals in the food pantry and deliver supplies to families in addition to the many other programs for neighbors in need throughout New Bern. Last year, RCS distributed over 329,000 pounds of food and Fairfield Harbour’s partnership with RMG will contribute to raising that number this holiday season.
