Fayetteville, N.C. – More than 1,000 spouses of military servicemen and women in Fayetteville received a Shoebox Gift from Support Military Spouses in honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Day.

The echelon of speakers for the ceremony and distribution of shoeboxes to military wives and husbands included First Lady Ann McCrory; Ronny Hayes, Regional Vice President of Walmart; Dave Elliott, President and CEO of Fort Bragg Federal Credit Union; Mike Parker, District Manager of Penske, and Dr. Steven Rumley, Support Military Spouses Co-founder.

“Military spouses are unsung heroes on our home-front,” said Dr. Steven and Diane Rumley, Co-founders of Support Military Spouses. “They are selfless in supporting their families, and deserving of being honored for the sacrifices they make to help protect our country.”

Shoebox Gift Program

Shoeboxes for Military Spouses, is a niche program of Support Military Spouses, and is the nation’s only program dedicated to assembling, inspecting, and distributing Shoebox Gifts to military spouses.

sponsors. The generosity of the Walmart Foundation, Penske, Fort Bragg Federal Credit Union, the

Armed Services Ministry of American Bible Society, and Leith Automotive ensured that over a thousand

deserving military spouses received encouragement in the form of a Shoebox Gift.
