Two recent community events raised a total of $6,800 for SAFE Haven for Cats, a non-profit no-kill animal shelter dedicated to finding homes for homeless cats and kittens, and reducing euthanasia in the Triangle. The 4th annual September Hepcat bike race raised $3,000 with 135 in attendance, and the 3rd annual October Run for Their Lives 5K raised $3,800 with more than 200 participants.

Hepcat is a bicycle scavenger hunt hosted by Oak City Cycling Project in downtown Raleigh. Run for Their Lives 5K was hosted by SAFE Haven for Cats in north Raleigh. Both awarded prizes to top competitors from race sponsors.

“We are thrilled and grateful to our community for supporting our races which make it possible for us to offer affordable spay/neuter services, a pet food pantry, and find homes for 600 stray cats every year,” says Pam Miller, executive director of SAFE Haven for Cats.
