Company Seeks A Lucky Triangle Home to Win an Efficiency Makeover

Is your home uncomfortable, inefficient or a pain in the pocketbook? Are you paying high utility bills? Are you tired of drafts or poor air quality? The solution is easier than you think and it could be free.

When college friends Bobby Ferrel and Walker Harris founded Durham-based Green Horizon in 2001, they did so believing that every building should be healthy for its occupants, efficient in its operation, and it should minimize its impact on the environment.

“Business is going strong in both our Triangle and Charlotte offices,” says Ferrel, founder of Green Horizon, “We felt it was time to give back and at the same time, help educate the public about how affordable energy-efficiency remodels can be.”

The $5,000 Energy Remodel contest is open to all homeowners in North Chatham, Wake, Durham and Orange counties. To enter, homeowners simply write a 300+ word essay about their homes, and have the option of including video, photos, or PowerPoint presentations – whatever homeowners think will convince an expert panel of judges that their home needs Green Horizon’s help.

The expert panel of judges includes Green Horizon’s own Bobby Ferrel, a former F-15 air force pilot, as well as Tobin Fried, Sustainability Manager for Durham City-County. Future judges will be announced over the course of the contest.

Homeowners wishing to enter the contest can do so on the Green Horizon Facebook page at (www.facebook.com/greenhorizon), by email to info@greenhorizon.com or by mail to our Green Horizon, 619 Foster Street, Durham, NC 27701. Contest deadline is June 30th, 2011 with the winner announced by July 15th, 2011.
