– Hill, Chesson & Woody (HCW), a local benefits and consulting firm, will host a free educational seminar in conjunction with WorkForce Unlimited on Tuesday, June 9th, at High Point Country Club, located at 800 Country Club Dr. This program, a part of HCW’s Employee Benefits Ready series, will focus on temporary employees and the Affordable Care Act (ACA.)

With the new Employer Mandate provision that went into effect on January 1, 2015 as part of the ACA, there are a new set of rules and regulations to consider in defining who is responsible for offering health coverage. This presentation will leave the audience with a better understanding of the Employer Mandate penalties with an emphasis on the requirements for common law employers and special rules for staffing agencies.

Attendees will learn how to identify the types of employees in their workforce and hot topics in the staffing industry. The presentation will close with additional considerations for employers who utilize staffing agencies, followed by a question and answer session.

This free seminar is accredited by the HR Certification Institute for 1.00 general credit hour toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification. HCW is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the presentation beginning at 9:00 a.m. For more information or to register, visit http://info.hcw-events.com/EBRTriad2.

QUOTES:

“By now, everyone should be aware that if they are subject to the employer mandate, they are required to offer health insurance to their full-time employees,” said Todd Yates, HCW managing partner. “This seminar will help you understand who those full-time employees are and how to ensure that you don’t let some slip through the cracks by misclassification.”

“The employee and employer relationship is changing at a rapid pace,” said R. Michael Brannock, Jr., Workforce Unlimited CEO. “It has become increasingly important for human resource professionals to be strategic partners within their companies. This event should be of value to any HR professional involved with ACA compliance and/or the hiring process.”
