Imperial Design Builders Breaks Ground on Southern Wake Academy School Project

Bookmark and Share FUQUAY VARINA, N.C. - October 28, 2014 -

Imperial Design Builders (www.imperialdesignbuilders.com), a family owned and operated general contractor building communities one building at a time, recently joined Fuquay Varina civic leaders for a celebratory groundbreaking at the new Southern Wake Academy school building on Old Powell Road.

Imperial Design Builders is beginning work on the 44,100-square-foot facility consisting of a three-story building and one-story gymnasium along with various site improvements including a new parking lot and landscaping.

“We are truly thankful when selected for all our design and build jobs, both renovations and new, in numerous market sectors including commercial, education, and government throughout North and South Carolina, but we’re especially thrilled at being selected for a project like this right in our hometown,” John L Auton III, company president, said.

Imperial Design Builders had been working with Weeks Turner Architects since the Southern Wake Academy project started taking shape back in 2012, providing preliminary budget numbers along the way. The school’s Board of Directors was considering modular construction versus conventional building; Imperial met with the Board, discussing the pros and cons of both styles and recommending a conventional building as the most cost-effective way to build. The school invited several area general contractors including Imperial, which was selected in part because of the amount of work it had already performed on the project and also its past history with Weeks Turner Architects.

Auton and members of his staff including VP/Job Supervisor Macon Auton and VP of Operations Jay Jenkins joined Mayor John Byrne and dignitaries from the Fuquay Varina Chamber of Commerce at the groundbreaking event, which included several informative speeches about the importance of the project to the town and a ceremonial shoveling of dirt to help kick off the project.

Imperial Design Builders continues to make its mark in the Fuquay Varina community since its founding in 2002, working on numerous recent high-profile projects like the Aviator Brewing Company warehouse expansion, John Hiester Chevrolet renovation and addition, and the new local offices of NC Farm Bureau Insurance.

With a deep portfolio of renovation and new builds on small jobs as well as million-dollar projects, Imperial Design Builders often receives repeat business from clients such as Moe’s Southwest Grill, Haddock Collision Centers and Goodwill Community Foundation.

Imperial Design Builders operates as an unlimited general contractor and is licensed in North and South Carolina. For more information call (919) 567-7412 or visit www.imperialdesignbuilders.com.
