The Triangle/Eastern N.C. Chapter of the British-American Business Council, (Triangle BABCNC), Organization of Women in International Trade – Greater Triangle Chapter (OWIT-GT), and the Canadian Business Association of North Carolina (CBA-NC) will host a summer social and special presentation on Thursday, June 8. The panel presentation on “Economic Development and Emerging Issues in NC” will include North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, former Congressman Mike McIntyre, and Institute for Emerging Issues Director Leslie Boney.

In 1996 Elaine Marshall became the first woman ever elected to a statewide executive-branch office in North Carolina. Secretary Marshall was a member of the North Carolina State Senate before rising to statewide office.

Mike McIntyre is senior advisor and director of government relations for Poyner Spruill, and former congressman of North Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Leslie Boney leads NC State University’s Institute for Emerging Issues and its efforts to identify key issues of importance to the state, and to develop consensus for actions to address. Prior to joining the Institute, he was vice president for international, community and economic engagement at the UNC system office.
