Jacksonville Military Spouses Honored with Shoebox Gifts in

Recognition of Military Spouse Appreciation Day

Jacksonville, N.C. – Hundreds of deserving Marine and Navy Corpsmen spouses in Jacksonville were honored with Shoebox Gifts in recognition of Military Spouse Appreciation Day at the Marine Federal Credit Union on Western Boulevard.

The two day event kicked off with a ceremony at which MajGen Bob Dickerson USMC (Retired), Executive Vice President of the Marine Federal Credit Union; Christina Fernandez, Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce, and Teresa Tingler, Human Relations at Walmart, were all guest speakers.

“Military spouses are unsung heroes on our home-front,” said Dr. Steven and Diane Rumley, Co-founders of Support Military Spouses. “They are selfless in supporting their families, and deserving of being honored for the sacrifices they make to help protect our country.”

Gifts Appreciated

Amy Lynn Urick Roper wrote, “I picked up my box. What a blessing. Thank you so much. Everything inside the box was wonderful. My favorite was a picture drawn by a precious little one.”

Lisa Castaneda-Perez shared, “Thank you! I really appreciated the handwritten note!”

Shoebox Gift Program

Shoeboxes for Military Spouses, is a niche program of Support Military Spouses, and is the nation’s only program dedicated to assembling, inspecting, and distributing Shoebox Gifts to military spouses.

Support Military Spouses acknowledges the help and support of all their community partners, and

sponsors. The generosity of the Walmart Foundation, Penske, Marine Federal Credit Union, and the

Armed Services Ministry of American Bible Society, ensured that hundreds of deserving military

spouses received encouragement in the form of a Shoebox Gift.
