The Raleigh chapter of the National Christian Foundation (NCF) is pleased to announce overall giving for September reached more than $780,000. This puts NCF on pace to surpass its goal of $65 million in giving by the end of 2014, including more than 350 grants for the month of September and 2,231 year-to-date grants.

One of the largest amount of grants given between August and September was to support the new construction of the Carolina Elite/Ten39 Community Sports Center in Durham, North Carolina. Through grants of $273,000 by NCF donors, this new Durham center will be used to provide support and life enrichment activities for Durham’s youth. The ground breaking celebration happened this past Sunday, October 26th.

“Using an NCF Giving Fund allows our givers to make sizable contributions, like this, to impact the very core of our community,” said Alanna Linden, president of NCF Raleigh. “Helping kids and families in Durham through a multi-purpose community center is an impactful project that we are excited to support.”

Through the grant given by NCF givers, the new facility will have funds for a basketball court, goals, bleachers, scoreboards, football field, goal posts, classrooms, sports lab, recreation rooms and audio/video equipment. This Durham community center will be utilized to bring together a wide variety of people from different walks of life in the surrounding community for social, educational and recreational activities that will ultimately improve the quality of life for the Durham area and citizens.

“We're incredibly excited by the way God is using NCF Raleigh givers to mobilize people in the Durham area to make a positive impact on individual lives,” said Lyn Adams, Chairman of Carolina Elite Sports, a Christian led NC non-profit corporation.
