National Christian Foundation Gives More Than $181,000 to International Children’s Charity
The Raleigh chapter of the National Christian Foundation (NCF) recently hit the giving mark of $181,488 to Compassion International, totaling 87 grants from local givers since 2005. Grants to this organization directly supplement an impoverished child’s education and health expenses or support programs in which the child participates.
At the national level, NCF has facilitated more than $656,000 in giving since 2005 to Compassion International.
A recent study published in the Journal of Political Economy found that the international aid model employed by Compassion International has a significant and long-term impact on children with most going to college and getting white-collar jobs. A significant part of this positive impact was found in the direct connection between donor and child.
“It is exciting to see our local donors give in such an impactful way to organizations such as Compassion International,” said Alanna Linden, President of NCF Raleigh. “Our mission is to enable donors to give to organizations in line with his or her passion, such as educating children around the world. It is wonderful to see how much of an impact Compassion International truly has on the recipients of these donations.”
The study collected data on more than 10,000 people enrolled in Compassion International’s sponsorship program from 1980 to 1992 and was published in April 2013.
