RALEIGH, N.C. – The Small Business Center at Wake Technical Community College has a new leader. Cherith Roberson, an entrepreneur with extensive firsthand experience in business ownership, has been named director of the center. Roberson got her start at Wake Tech, earning an associate’s degree in the college transfer program before going on to NC State University, where she earned a B.S. in Business Management.

In her new role, Roberson provides counsel, resources, and support to small business owners and would-be entrepreneurs, to help them start or expand small businesses. She conducts individual, confidential counseling sessions and organizes free seminars and workshops throughout the community.

Roberson ran a successful house-flipping business for several years, despite the economic recession of 2007 and 2008. She also counseled homebuyers and sellers on ways to navigate the tumultuous real estate economy. Her most recent venture was founding Peak Food Co., where she developed a unique wholesale farm directory to connect small farms with food buyers.

Originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, Roberson grew up in Benson, NC, the eldest of 12 siblings. She now lives in Apex with her husband – also an entrepreneur – and two-year-old son.
