The Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter (LFANC) will be hosting its “2015 Lupus Empowerment Workshops” in Greensboro and Greenville on Saturday, Aug. 8.

The two-part workshop in Greensboro will take place from 10:00AM-1:00PM at Guildford Technical Community College – Greensboro Campus located at 3505 E. Wendover Ave. in Greensboro (27405). Dr. Angie Hawkes with Greensboro Medical Associates will present Part 1: “Lupus and the Skin.” Part 2 will be a panel discussion about “Managing Your Life with Lupus.”

The two-part workshop in Greenville will run from 10:00AM-1:00PM at the Pitt County Agricultural Center Auditorium located at 403 Government Circle, Suite 2 in Greenville (27834). Dr. Robert Oglesby with Carolina Arthritis Center will present Part 1: “Skin and Joint Manifestations.” Part 2 will feature a presentation by LFANC President & CEO, Christine John-Fuller on “Doctor-Patient Communication.”

“These educational seminars are a wonderful way for us to give the 45,000 individuals in North Carolina who are living with lupus the opportunity to feel empowered to take charge of their health,” said Christine John-Fuller, President & CEO of LFANC. “We couldn’t do this without the amazing support of our presenters and volunteers who play a vital role in supporting our mission and in helping make life better for those affected by lupus.”

The “2015 Lupus Empowerment Series” is an eight-city series of educational workshops that will provide individuals affected by lupus with methods for not only living, but also thriving. The seminars will offer information on two different topics and participants will learn from both subject matter experts and a panel of individuals living with lupus. The remaining two will take place on Sept. 12 in Asheville and Fayetteville.
