North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association Names Dr. Brenda Stevens As President-elect

RALEIGH, N.C., Aug. 28, 2017 – The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (NCVMA) has announced the organization’s executive officers for 2017-2018. Dr. Brenda Stevens, DVM, of the North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, will serve as president-elect of the NCVMA board of directors. In this role, Stevens will work to advance the NCVMA’s mission of promoting integrity and excellence in veterinary medicine, as well as responsible pet ownership. In addition to her role on the board, she is an associate clinical professor in North Carolina State University’s Department of Clinical Sciences. Stevens is a graduate of the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Other NCVMA executive officers for 2017-2018 include:

-President: Steven Stelma, DVM, Animal Care Center of New Bern in New Bern, North Carolina

-Vice President: Jennifer Shults, DVM, Quartet Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital in Cary, North Carolina

-Secretary-Treasurer: Dante Martin, DVM, Holly Ridge Veterinary Hospital in Holly Ridge, North Carolina

-Immediate Past President: Thomas Kuhn, DVM, Animal Hospital East in Asheville, North Carolina

Founded in 1902, the NCVMA is a professional organization of veterinarians dedicated to compassionate animal care and quality veterinary medicine. Working with the board of directors, the executive officers will provide guidance on all NCVMA activities and initiatives, as well as oversight of the organization’s strategic planning and future direction.
