The Novant Health Charlotte Marathon is calling on the community – from businesses, organizations and schools to neighborhoods and individuals – to join its Cheer Station Contest during race day – Saturday, Nov. 12.

“Our goal is to cover the course to cheer on our runners and to show the incredible support of our Queen City,” said Tim Rhodes, race director of the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon. “We encourage as many people as possible to support and motivate our participants from start to finish. It’s also a great way to promote your organization while supporting a great cause.”

Each Cheer Station group will be assigned to a location on the marathon course and receive cowbells and sunglasses. Cheer stations are encouraged to be as spirited as possible to cheer on and support the runners during the race. The top three winning cheer stations will receive a donation made in their honor to the charity of their choice: First Place will receive $1,000; and Second and Third Place winners will receive $500. Full marathon runners will vote for their favorite cheer station through a post race survey and the winners will be announced online by Thursday, Dec. 15.
