Bookmark and Share Pinehurst, NC - September 27, 2017 -

A complimentary seminar on magazine query letter mistakes takes place in downtown Pinehurst on October 17th. Freelance journalist Tara Lynne Groth, a writer from the Raleigh area, runs the free seminar at The Given Outpost.

October’s seminar reviews the pitch process for freelancers interested in writing for magazines, the classic structure of query letter writing, and the mistakes new and long-time freelancers make when writing and submitting their query letters.

Groth’s seminar is part of Project Freelance, a campaign she launched that provides communities and schools with educational programs on professional writing. A limited number of attendees will receive a free copy of her new guide for freelance journalists, as well as complimentary query letter critiques, all funded by her Project Freelance campaign.

Groth has written for dozens of publications, including DURHAM NEWS, CHAPEL HILL NEWS, SOUTHERN NEIGHBOR, INDY WEEK and BLUE RIDGE OUTDOORS. She is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, North Carolina Writers Network, Writers Group of the Triad, Winston-Salem Writers, and other organizations.

Magazine Query Letter Mistakes is a presentation followed by a short Q&A. The session is open to the public and will begin at 12PM on 10/17 at The Given Outpost, 95 Cherokee Road (Upstairs), Pinehurst, North Carolina. The Given Outpost is located above The Roast Office.
