DURHAM, N.C. – September 28, 2017 – Pharmacy technology provider Parata Systems has been awarded a group purchasing agreement for medication and supply automation and outpatient pharmacy technology with Premier Inc. Effective July 1, 2017, the new agreement allows Premier members, at their discretion, to take advantage of special pricing and terms pre-negotiated by Premier for outpatient pharmacy technology.

Through an alliance of health providers on a mission to transform healthcare, Premier offers the most comprehensive database of actionable data, clinical best practices, and efficiency improvement strategies. With this exclusive agreement, all of Premier’s approximately 3,900 hospitals and 150,000 healthcare providers nationwide will have access to Parata’s extensive technology portfolio in the areas of automated vial dispensing and pouch packaging, along with consulting and support services.

“Parata is excited to begin this partnership with Premier because it’s exceptionally rare when two companies’ missions are so directly aligned towards enhancing the healthcare industry for providers and patients alike,” stated DJ Dougherty, CEO of Parata. “While driving efficiency and medication adherence are two main focuses of our technology solutions, the most important thing Parata and Premier are working together to improve is the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.”

Premier and Parata are well aligned in their efforts to transform the state of the healthcare industry in the United States. Since 2001, Parata has provided pharmacy automation solutions that support business growth, better health outcomes, and lower medical costs. Parata Max® high-speed robotic dispenser ensures accuracy, manages high script volumes, and stores, monitors, and tracks drugs safely and securely to prevent diversion. Parata automation frees up labor for value-added activities, such as medication reconciliation consulting and patient education. Parata PASS® strip packaging organizes medications the way patients take them — by day and time of dose — for improved adherence. PASS packaging supports common “med-to-bed” programs, helps prevent readmissions, and empowers health-system pharmacists to take a more proactive role in in patient outcomes.
