Donating 100 percent of net proceeds to American Red Cross

Garner, N.C., October 19, 2016 – According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Hurricane Matthew has resulted in at least 22 fatalities in North Carolina, 66 counties being declared disaster areas, 2,336 rescues, and more than 36,200 registrations for Federal Emergency Management Agency assistance.

As a continuation of its long history of philanthropy, Rush Hour Karting in Garner will host a Hurricane Matthew fundraiser on Friday, October 28. From noon until midnight, 100 percent of all net proceeds will be donated to the Triangle Area Chapter of American Red Cross to assist with hurricane relief. Rush Hour Karting is located at 5335 Raynor Road in Garner. Representatives from the Triangle Chapter will be on hand during the fundraiser to answer any questions about Hurricane Matthew relief efforts.

As of October 18, the American Red Cross has supported or opened 108 shelters in North Carolina (providing over 25,000 shelter nights), mobilized more than 1,100 disaster volunteer relief workers, and served more than 300,000 meals and snacks. These numbers change daily, as this large relief operation continues across eastern North Carolina.

“Our hearts go out to the many North Carolinians who have lost their homes, their possessions and even their loved ones in the aftermath of this devastating storm,” said Adam Saad, owner of Rush Hour Karting. “It will take years for some areas to recover, and we want to help in the best way we can – by inviting everyone in the community to come out on October 28 to race and help contribute to relief efforts.”
