Event at Booth Amphitheatre to Feature Family-Friendly Activities, Authentic Food & Drink

The Third Annual Triangle Oktoberfest will be held at Cary’s Booth Amphitheatre September 23-24 and will celebrate community and cultural diversity. Tickets for this family-friendly event will go on sale August 12 at noon through the Booth Amphitheatre Box Office, www.triangleoktoberfest.org/tickets, boothamphitheatre.com or by calling 1-800-514-3849. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, noon-6 p.m.

Triangle Oktoberfest is co-hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Apex Sunrise and Cary MacGregor, and the Town of Cary. Previous events have attracted thousands of participants, and this year’s event is expected to surpass previous attendance records.

The event will start Friday, Sept. 23 at 6:45 p.m. with the traditional Bürgermeister tapping of the first keg, called “O’Zapst is,” which is also what the crowd yells out. The organizers are sparing little expense to make the entire experience as authentically Bavarian as possible.

This year’s Triangle Oktoberfest will feature the following activities:

• Kinder Platz Kids Zone (featuring bounce house, obstacle course, storytelling and more)

• Wiener dog races

• Variety of German foods and beers

• 26-member Little German Band and Dancers

• Rock-toberfest nightly rock concerts by Four Founders and West Street Band

• Contest for best German-dressed participants

• Fräulein obstacle course

• Hammerschlagen (relay team for nailing a spike in an old oak stump)

• Sam Adams National Stein Hoist competition (with winners competing to win a trip to Las Vegas’ and Munich’s Oktoberfests)

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Triangle Oktoberfest Rotary Foundation, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Schedule and ticket information for Oktoberfest are as follows:

• Friday, Sept. 23: 6 p.m. - 11 p.m., $15 in advance, $20 at the door

• Sunday, Sept. 24: 1 p.m. – 11 p.m., $20 in advance, $25 at the door

• Free admission for children 15 and under both days

• Beer tickets will be on sale inside the venue

“The whole idea behind our Oktoberfest is to share ‘Gemütlichkeit,’ or warmth, friendliness and good cheer,” said Triangle Oktoberfest Bürgermeister Randy Bossé. “Our region is rich in German culture as well as home to over 75 German-based companies. Great effort has been made to create an authentic Bavarian experience.”
