While there are many Halloween events taking place throughout the Triangle in October, there’s only one Track or Treat -- a spooky ride on a real train at New Hope Valley Railway.

The family-friendly Halloween event takes place on Saturdays Oct. 18 and 25, with Ghost Train excursions departing at 4 pm, 5:15 pm, 6:30 pm and 7:45 pm.

All tickets are $13 each, adults and children. The earlier departure times are recommended for younger children.

Along the one-hour train route, riders will see interactive Halloween scenes, including flying witches when passing the witches coven alongside the tracks. The Ghost Train steam engine chugs by on a second set of tracks enveloped in heavy mist, spooky décor and makes eerie noises.

Children’s activities will also take place in the haunted rail yard that will include a 20-foot black cat, “ghost busters” for each child while supplies last, a train caboose occupied by Iseemore the Magnificent Palm Reader and magical boo bubbles created by Dr. CO2.
