Two 7th graders along with players from the NC State football team will be cutting the ribbon to start the Take Steps Walk on Saturday, April 30 at Lake Crabtree County Park

Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 30 at 10am for the start of the Take Steps Walk for Crohn’s & Colitis. More than 500 participants are expected to begin arriving at 9am for the 10am start of a 2-mile walk that traverses through the wooded trails and along the shoreline of Lake Crabtree County Park. Prior to the start of the walk, participants will enjoy live music, kid’s activities including a bounce house, arts and crafts, an opportunity to throw footballs with players from the NC State football team, and a hockey game provided by the Carolina Hurricanes. A mission tent will be set up for participants to speak with medical staff from UNC Health Care about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Just prior to 10am, boy scouts from 2 troops in Cary will lead a flag ceremony while Hillary Jones sings the National Anthem. Honored Heroes Nick Lucovsky (age 13) and Olivia Kness (age 12) will address the crowd before cutting the ribbon to start the 2016 walk.

Media is invited to attend and speak with our Honored Heroes, doctors and researchers from Duke and UNC, and the many patients in attendance that have Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

WHAT: Take Steps Walk for Crohn’s & Colitis

WHEN: Saturday, April 30 - Participants arrive at 9am, Walk starts at 10am

WHERE: Lake Crabtree County Park, 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville, NC 27560 (across from RDU Airport). Reserved parking for media will be provided in the 1st parking lot on your right as you enter Lake Crabtree (located 4/10 of a mile into the park)

WHO: 500+ walk participants from the greater Triangle area
