The Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter (LFANC) needs 100 volunteers to help in various roles at its Sixth Annual Walk to End Lupus Now: Fayetteville. The Walk will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 5:00PM at Festival Park located at 335 Ray Avenue and will usher in an anticipated 1,400 participants.

Volunteers are needed anytime between 12:30-8:30PM. Event-day roles include: site set-up, registration, parking, kids area, first aid, support and gear vehicles, food and beverage, finish line cheerleaders, and breakdown. Volunteers will be given a T-shirt and meal for their service.

“We appreciate the time and dedication from our volunteers who are critical in helping our walk be a success,” said Christine John-Fuller, LFANC President and CEO. “We encourage individuals and groups to sign up today. This is a great opportunity for groups that want to volunteer together and students who need community service hours for school.”

The Walk to End Lupus Now: Fayetteville is one of four LFANC walk events across North Carolina and countless others across the nation. The other N.C. events take place in Raleigh, Charlotte and Asheville. The Walks are conducted nationwide by the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) and its national network to raise money for lupus research, increase awareness of lupus, and rally public support for those who suffer from its brutal impact. Those interested in participating can register as an individual or with a team.

Participants raise awareness about lupus and raise funds for national research and local support services to help the estimated 4,000 people in Cumberland County and surrounding areas who are living with lupus. There is a 1-mile route and a 5K route option. The suggested minimum fundraising goal per person is $100, which is the amount where participants can start earning prizes.
