William Peace University, (http://www.peace.edu/) a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, is proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Jeffrey Carr as Assistant Professor and Department Chair of Business Administration. In his roles, Carr will redesign and execute plans to transform the business program at WPU into a leading degree program in the Triangle. Additionally, he will implement a skills-based learning curriculum to provide students with the tools necessary to be successful in their careers.

Prior to joining William Peace University, Carr worked as a licensed attorney and mediator while also serving as Campus Dean at Strayer University, Department Chair at Herzing University, and Senior Lecturer at the University of Akron. On top of his legal and higher education work, Carr also worked in sales and marketing for more than 20 years. He earned a JD from the University of Akron, a MBA in Marketing and Finance from Kent State University, and a BSBA in Management from Youngstown State University.

“This is an exciting time to be at William Peace University,” Carr said. “The business climate and requirements for graduates is rapidly changing, and WPU is on the leading edge of providing real world skills to our graduates to help build Raleigh as a leading business community in the world marketplace.”

“We’re very excited to bring in such an experienced and passionate leader in Dr. Carr,” said Debra M. Townsley, President of William Peace University. “He understands the demands of the current job market and will work hard to ensure our students are prepared and ready for success in the real world.”

“When one hears of a 15 to one student to faculty ratio for a university, it is assumed there will be a tight-knit, family-like atmosphere and that is exactly what Professor Carr brings to the table,” said Heather Johnson, Business Administration ’15. “He works with students on all aspects of their education and further pursuits with passion and interest. Carr is a fantastic addition.”

Carr resides in Raleigh with his wife, Kaylie. He has two sons who are students at Appalachian State University and UNC Charlotte, majoring in Paleoecology and Electrical Engineering.
