Young Local Actors Take Centerstage Along Broadway Stars In NC Theatre's Mary Poppins

RALEIGH, N.C. –North Carolina Theatre, the region’s premiere nonprofit professional theatre producing Broadway musical revivals, presents Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins July 26-31, 2016 at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh. Starring in the role will be Broadway sensation Kara Lindsay as everyone’s favorite nanny, “Mary Poppins” alongside Nicolas Dromard. Two local youth, Riley Rose Campbell and Micah Boon will star as “Jane” and “Michael Banks” respectively.

Riley Rose Campbell (“Jane Banks”) made her professional debut with North Carolina Theatre as “Young Cosette” in Les Misérables in 2014, earning rave reviews. She also appeared in NC Theatre’s The Little Mermaid later that year. She was last seen in The Wolf and Carousel at Theatre Raleigh.

Joining her onstage will be Greensboro local Micah Boan, making his professional debut in a starring role as “Michael Banks”. Micha Boan’s past roles include “Charlie Bucket” in Willy Wonka (CTG), “Sorcerer of Silence” in Musicville (HPCT), Oklahoma! (Elon University), and A Christmas Carol (Triad Stage). Most recently, Micha appeared as “Michael Banks” with High Point Community Theatre’s production of Mary Poppins.

NC Theatre’s “Mary Poppins,” Kara Lindsay, has appeared in starring roles on Broadway, most notably as “Glinda” in Wicked and Newsies as “Katherine”. She has also taken center stage on a host of National Tours, including Little House on the Prairie (“Laura”), Cinderella (“Cinderella”), and Cabaret (“Sally Bowles”).

Reviving his Broadway role, Nicolas Dromard will play the energetic, chimney-sweeping best friend, “Bert.” He was last seen on Broadway as “Tommy DeVito” in Jersey Boys. Other credits include “Fiyero” in Wicked and “Billy Lawlor” in 42nd Street.

NC native Eric Woodall is set to direct with choreography by Ryan Kasprzak. The creative team of North Carolina Theatre’s production of Mary Poppins is led by Artistic Director Casey Hushion and Producer Carolee Baxter, with Edward G. Robinson as Music Director.
