MATI Healthy Energy Receives Organic Certification to Become the First Craft-Brewed Organic Energy Drink

MATI Healthy Energy, the all-natural, craft-brewed energy drink, today announced its full organic certification by the California Certified Organic Farmers organization (CCOF), becoming the first craft-brewed, organic energy drink on the market. All existing natural flavors are now certified organic and in early 2019, MATI is introducing three new, zero-calorie flavors, including raspberry mint, lemon ginger and grapefruit. In addition, MATI is unveiling a colorful and energetic new look for its packaging and branded materials that aligns with the brand’s heritage as an innovative leader in delivering healthy, focused energy in the beverage space.

The refreshed branding and zero-calorie beverages debuted this week at BevNET Live in Santa Monica, the leading conference for the beverage industry, and pre-orders are now available for current and prospective retailers and distributors.

According to the Organic Trade Association, more than 82 percent of U.S. households buy organic. MATI allows retailers and distributors to meet consumers’ need for organic options by providing an organic energy drink with no added sugars or artificial ingredients. MATI is made with just a few simple, clean ingredients including a blend of fruit juices, natural flavors and craft-brewed guayusa, a naturally-caffeinated leaf.

“Historically, the energy drink category was dominated by products with synthetic ingredients and additives that most consumers just don’t want. In fact, most adults don’t consume traditional energy drinks due to safety concerns or negative health perceptions and there is a huge unmet need in the market,” said Eric Masters, CEO, MATI. “MATI was launched specifically to meet this need - providing healthy, no-spike, no-crash energy through a simple blend of guayusa and fruit juices, so achieving organic certification is an initiative we pursued with passion. Combined with our first slate of zero-calorie flavors and our colorful, new branding that will stand-out on the shelf, we are very excited to work with our retail and distributor partners to drive category growth and delight their consumers.”

CCOF is a nonprofit organization that advances organic agriculture for a healthy world through organic certification, education, advocacy and promotion. Receiving organic certification by CCOF furthers MATI in its mission to be a healthy, sustainable and transparent source of energy for consumers. To achieve certification, MATI worked to vet all ingredients back to source for organic processing and completed an audit of the entire supply chain —from source to consumer. The thorough certification process culminated in a 10-hour long inspection of the MATI Microbrewery by CCOF.

All current MATI certified organic flavors will be available for retailers and distributors to order through their existing accounts. Prospective distributors, retailers and office managers may complete a business application online. The new zero-calorie flavors and branding will hit the market in early 2019.

About MATI Healthy Energy

What if energy drinks were good for you? Artificial ingredients, synthetic caffeine and tons of sugar or high fructose corn syrup are typical ingredients in energy drinks, but you’ll never find them in MATI. MATI is the first craft, small batch healthy energy drink. It starts by using the best ingredients and a mission to provide high-functioning, no crash energy drinks. The secret is in our proprietary brewing technology. MATI created a brewing process which extracts the optimal amount of energy, nutrients, and flavor from guayusa, an Amazonian super leaf packed with naturally occurring caffeine and more antioxidants than green tea.

Founded in 2012, MATI’s “college dorm to national retail” story has captivated the beverage industry and has led to national recognition and numerous awards as a disruptive player in the energy category. At retail, MATI can be found throughout the Southeast including partners such as Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Earth Fare, Harris Teeter and H-E-B. MATI can also be purchased nationally via Amazon and its website, www.drinkmati.com. Follow @drinkmati and #HealthyHustle moments on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
