St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church Welcomes the Rev. Jerry Lasley

Bookmark and Share High Point, NC - February 14, 2017

St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in High Point welcomes the Reverend Jerry Lasley after a year and a half long search for a new leader. Lasley, who relocated to High Point from Rocky Mount, NC, has been a priest for nearly 25 years, serving in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport, Iowa and most recently as a supply priest for Church of the Saviour in Jackson, NC. He also served as a full-time teacher in the North Carolina public school system for the past 15 years.

Lasley is excited to begin his new ministry with the congregation of St. Christopher’s, a church community that has served the Triad for over fifty years. He wants to continue the work of the church, making sure that everyone walking through the doors of St. Christopher’s will be welcomed and loved. Lasley wants to grow the outreach ministries currently in place as well as increase the membership of the church. He is a firm believer in the words of Bishop Michael Curry, the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, who says, “We are the Episcopal Church, the Episcopal branch of Jesus’ movement in this world.”

The Episcopal Church is a church which follows the teachings of Jesus Christ and believes that all people are created equal in the eyes of God. The church believes that God is active in the world and that God continues to be revealed through tradition, scripture, preaching, and in the everyday lives of the people of God.

Lasley wants to work closely with civic and religious leaders across the Triad to bring together people of all faiths to create what he calls, “… a world of mutual trust, understanding, compassion, love and acceptance.”
