Stewart, an interdisciplinary design, engineering and planning firm, today announced it is launching a new municipal planning and mobility practice area. Drawing on Stewart’s expertise in interdisciplinary collaboration, the newly-formed practice area brings together the firm’s experienced municipal planning staff with bicycle and pedestrian employees to provide a wholistic data-driven and design-oriented approach intended to deliver stronger solutions to clients.

All services currently offered will continue, including land use planning, urban design, current planning and bicycle/pedestrian planning, design and engineering. Together, Stewart’s municipal planning and mobility employees help build equitable and resilient solutions and better connect people to place with projects that enhance sustainability and quality of life.

“As community leaders prepare for future growth, they must have the plans and designs in place that will improve the built environment, safety, access and mobility within the community,” said Cindy Szwarckop, associate vice president and practice leader of municipal planning and mobility at Stewart. “Joining together our municipal planners and bicycle and pedestrian planners and engineers under one practice area better positions us to deliver the solutions to our clients that will help steer the communities’ full development.”

Stewart’s move to combine municipal planners with bicycle and pedestrian planners and engineers as one practice area unites the service offerings with the common goal of strengthening communities through education, creativity and purposeful planning, and builds upon new and existing relationships the firm holds with small to mid-sized communities throughout the state of North Carolina and beyond.

“Our clients continue to rely on us for our unique interdisciplinary focus and our many years of combined experience across planners, designers and engineers,” said Willy Stewart, PE, CEO of Stewart. “Launching our interdisciplinary municipal planning and mobility practice area is another example of our pioneering, forward-thinking culture. Our ability to identify and offer these unique services sets our clients a step above the rest with stronger and more creative solutions.”
