The Wakefield Rotary club of Wake Forest is hosting the 2nd annual monthly charity golf tour at TPC Wakefield Plantation April through October 2012 to raise money to go toward various local charities supported by the organization.

The Wakefield Rotary Charity Golf Tour will consist of 18 holes of play in a Texas Scramble format beginning on Thursday, April 12. The other monthly golf events will be on May 10, June 28, August 9, September 13 and October 11. No golf will be played in July. Tee times are at 2 p.m. with a shotgun start on the TPC Wakefield Plantation golf course.

The entry fee for each golf event is $80 and registration must be completed online prior to the event. Go to www.wakefieldrotarync.org and click on Rotary Golf Tour to register and pay. Raffle tickets are also available and cost $10 for one or three for $20. Raffle prizes vary each month and will be awarded after each golf outing with snacks at 6:30 p.m. in the clubhouse to conclude the event.

“The Wakefield Rotary monthly charity golf tour is a great opportunity to enjoy a round of golf at a top local course and raise funds for local charities in our community,” said Patrick Newton, chair of the Wakefield Rotary club fundraising committee.

Each month, Wakefield Rotary will team up with a different local charity. A portion of each golf event entry fee and raffle proceeds will go toward the charity supported by the Wakefield Rotary for that month. Last year’s charity golf tour sponsors, volunteers and participants helped the Wakefield Rotary club raise $3,500 for the Rex Hospital Cancer Center.
