Womble Caryle's Edward Griggs Chosen for N.C Bar Association's Inaugural Leadership Academy

Womble Carlyle attorney Edward Griggs has been selected for the North Carolina Bar Association's first-ever Leadership Academy. Griggs and 15 other attorneys were selected from 79 candidates from across the state.

The Leadership Academy will meet regularly throughout 2011. The purpose of the program is to identify and develop outstanding young leaders. The training program is designed by the NCBA's Young Lawyer Initiatives Task Force and the Center for Creative Leadership.

Griggs is a member of Womble Carlyle's Tax, Trusts & Estates Practice Group. He focuses his practice on the areas of estate and gift tax planning, charitable planning, fiduciary administration and fiduciary litigation. In addition, he assists clients with the creation of new charitable organizations and advises charitable clients about governance, compliance, grant-making and fundraising issues.

He is the 2007 winner of the NCBA's Outstanding Continuing Legal Education Volunteer of the Year Award, and is Immediate Past President of the Winston-Salem Estate Planning Council. Griggs chairs the NCBA's Technology Committee of the Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section. He is the President-Elect of the Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem, Inc.
