The 13th Annual 24 Hours of Booty presented by Levine Cancer Institute to date has raised $1.43 million to help support cancer survivorship and patient navigation programs. More than $12 million has been raised since the event’s inception in 2002.

“Once again, our riders and supporters have gone above and beyond with their fundraising efforts and in helping us achieve another milestone year,” said Basil Lyberg, executive director of 24 Hours of Booty. “We are truly grateful for all that everyone does to support our mission and to show cancer survivors that they aren’t in this fight alone.”

On July 25-26, 1,200 registered participants from 26 different states rode in Charlotte’s Myers Park neighborhood along the famed “Booty Loop” to help put cancer in its place. When not riding, participants hung out in “Bootyville” (a.k.a. Myers Park Traditional School and Queens University of Charlotte) for camping, food and fun. The event also included entertainment and a breakfast program featuring former NFL player Chris Draft, who now runs Tackle Cancer. WBTV’s Kelly Franson served as the emcee.

The event was supported by 300 volunteers and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department representatives stationed along the course at all times. Beneficiaries include: Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Cancer Institute, LIVESTRONG Foundation, Wind River Cancer Retreats, the Brain Tumor Fund of the Carolinas, Hendrick Marrow Program and the Keep Pounding Fund.

Adds Lyberg, “We appreciate our presenting sponsor Levine Cancer Institute, the Myers Park neighborhood, Myers Park Traditional School, Queens University of Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and our amazing volunteers, riders, cancer survivors, supporters and spectators who go the extra mile to make 24 Hours of Booty a fantastic event. Together, we are part of a community impacting the fight against cancer through cutting-edge survivorship and navigation programs both locally and nationally.”
