American Cancer Society selects Weejee Learning to Create Innovative New Volunteer Training Program

Interactive E-Learning Solution Designed for 30th Annual Relay for Life Event

Durham, North Carolina – April 1, 2015 – Weejee Learning, a global provider of custom, interactive and fun e-learning solutions, has been chosen by The America Cancer Society to create an interactive program to be utilized by Relay for Life volunteers. The customized training will assist in strengthening and enhancing the experience of committee members, event volunteers and ambassadors participating in the runs and walks hosted around the country.

For over 100 years, the American Cancer Society has worked relentlessly to help save lives and create a world with less cancer. The nonprofit’s Relay for Life signature fundraising event – an organized, overnight community walk in which teams of people camp out around a track taking turns walking – has raised nearly $5 billion to date with the help of more than 4 million people in over 20 countries each year. This year, as Relay for Life celebrates its 30th anniversary, the America Cancer Society is providing consistent training for all event volunteers to help make this fundraising event even more successful.

Weejee is designing a complete and comprehensive training program, including 13 e-learning modules that will engage volunteers by using actual volunteer scenarios, success stories and real-life examples. By leveraging gamification elements, Weejee will increase volunteer engagement and accelerate training completion. “American Cancer Society has a long and impactful history in the fight against cancer,” said Ian Huckabee, CEO of Weejee. “We’re excited to provide our strengths and expertise to be a part of this powerful work. The volunteer training will draw upon past success stories while looking toward the future to create sustainable interactive solutions that American Cancer Society can utilize over time.”

Weejee helps organizations like the American Cancer Society realize the proven effectiveness of incorporating fun and engagement into e-learning initiatives through award-winning thought leadership and technological innovation and consulting. The company has steadily grown since its founding in 2010 and especially in the last year in which it has added six key team members and received U.S. General Services Administration vendor approval.
