Lifestyle Publication Wins InSpire and Hermes Awards

Cary, N.C. — S&A Cherokee, publisher of Cary Magazine, has announced that the local lifestyle publication recently won two awards that recognize excellence in communications and creativity.

Cary Magazine won a Bronze InSpire Award of Excellence in the category of Magazines from the North Carolina Chapter of Public Relations Society of America. Bronze InSpire Awards recognize tactics or components of campaigns. Winners were announced May 2 at a special awards banquet at the Capital City Club in Raleigh emceed by Valonda Calloway of NBC17.

The September/October 2011 issue of Cary Magazine received a Gold Hermes Creative Award in the category of Publications/Magazine. Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials, programs and emerging technologies. The awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), an international organization consisting of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production, Web and free-lance professionals.

Co-edited by Tara Croft and Emily Uhland, Cary Magazine now encompasses a print magazine published eight times a year, a vibrant website, and weekly email notifications.

“We love getting feedback from our readers, but it’s also gratifying to receive affirmation of our efforts through awards judged by other communications professionals,” said Uhland.

“We share these awards with our very talented writers and designers, plus the best local photographer in the business,” added Croft.
