The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) officially opens its new Greensboro Blood Donation and Distribution Center today. The new center marks CBCC’s fifth donor center in the region and is located at 616 Pasteur Drive in Greensboro (27403).

The donor center will supply the blood products needed for Cone Health and their patients throughout the Triad area. Hours of operation are: Monday & Tuesday from 1:00PM-6:00PM; Wednesday through Friday from 8:00AM-2:00PM; and Saturday from 7:30AM-2:30PM.

“I urge you to register to give blood,” said Terry Akin, president and CEO of Cone Health. “And remember, the blood we collect in our community, stays in our community. What a great way to share our Cone Health values!”

Donors can donate whole blood at the Greensboro location, which will serve as the base for mobile blood collection and the distribution point for the hospitals in the Greensboro region. Donors will also be able to donate platelets beginning in November. Mobile operations will enable area businesses, houses of faith, schools and other groups to host CBCC blood drives at their respective locations. To schedule an appointment to donate blood or platelets at the Greensboro Center or plan a blood drive, call 336-938-0269 or visit www.cbcc.us.

“We are excited to be serving the Triad area to meet the needs of local patients served by Cone Health,” said Martin Grable, president and CEO of the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas. “We are a regional blood supplier, partnering with hospitals and local donor groups to meet the needs of local patients. We are a community first blood supplier where ‘Every Drop Stays Here, Saving Local Lives’.”

As the primary blood supplier to 27 area hospitals, CBCC relies on local organizations and volunteer blood donors to provide over 400 blood products needed each day to treat area patients. CBCC operates four other donor centers regionally, including: Charlotte (4447 South Blvd.); Concord (363 Church Street North, Suite 170); Gastonia (2524 East Franklin Blvd, Suite E); and Hickory (2217 Hwy 70 SE).
