Bookmark and Share Charlotte, NC - January 21, 2015 -

The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) is hosting its Sixth Annual ‘Pints for Pounds’ campaign through the end of February. For every blood donation made during that time, CBCC will donate seven pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank.

Since the ‘Pints for Pounds’ campaign began in 2009, CBCC has been able to contribute 231,384 pounds of food to help feed the hungry in our community.

“Supporting the vital work of Second Harvest Food Bank and giving back to the community is important to our vision,” said Martin Grable, president and CEO of CBCC. “Not only are you saving lives when donating blood, but you are feeding those in need throughout our community. We encourage the public to help us make every pint count by giving life-saving blood today.”

For businesses, civic organizations and churches interested in hosting a blood drive with CBCC, call Kim Jones, director of sponsorship development, at 704-972-4727. Those interested in donating blood can do so at a community blood drive or at one of CBCC’s donor centers in Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia, Greensboro or Hickory.
