The Southern Ideal Home Show, the Triangle’s largest home and garden event happening Sept. 25-27 at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, is a three-day showcase featuring more than 300 top area professionals in home and garden. While there are hundreds of reasons to come to the show, here are the top 10:

1. Headlining this year’s show is celebrity guest Hilary Farr, International Interior Designer and co-host of HGTV’s Love it or List It. Love It or List It features Farr and real estate agent David Visentin as they compete for the affections of fed-up homeowners looking to either renovate or sell, and is currently filming in the Raleigh area. Farr renovates the couples’ current home while Visentin attempts to convince them selling is the better option. Farr will share her design expertise, tips and tricks at two Question and Answer sessions on Saturday, Sept. 26 at noon and 3:30 p.m.

2. The fall show will showcase the second annual Brews & Bites, where guests will enjoy locally-crafted beers with savory foods created by top chefs and businesses in the Triangle for free.

3. To make Brews and Bites even more enticing, Lowe’s is designing the sampling area as an outdoor oasis complete with comfortable patio furniture and three fire pits. Each day of the show a fire pit will be given away to a show guest. This fan-favorite feature will have a new look and location this year.

4. Partners in Design, a group of local interior design resources, will showcase ideas in traditional interior design and current trends. The group, coordinated by Marie Martin of MPM Designs, also includes retired interior designer Lisa Welde, Catherine Merriman of Raleigh Orchids, Cynthia Brooks, antique dealer, and many others. Browse the group’s beautiful room displays, created with new furniture, as well as vintage, refurbished and repurposed pieces. Everything on display will be for sale.

5. One lucky show guest will win $10,000 from Majestic Kitchen and Bath Creations to use toward a dream kitchen or bath renovation.

Tickets are available at the door for $9 and children under 15 are free with a paying adult. Discounted tickets are available at Walgreen’s locations throughout the Triangle for a cost of $7. Friday is 55+ Day (tickets are $7 for anyone 55 and older) and Hero Day (free admission for those with active and valid military, police, fire or EMT identification).
