The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) has chosen 10 regional high schools to each receive the $1,000 CBCC grant for the 2014-2015 school year.

This year’s recipients are: Maiden High School (Maiden, N.C.), Salisbury High School (Salisbury, N.C.), Mallard Creek High School (Charlotte, N.C.), E. Gaston High School (Mt. Holly, N.C.), N. Stanly High School (New London, N.C.), Eastern Alamance High School (Mebane, N.C.), Freedom High School (Morganton, N.C.), E. Rutherford High School (Bostic, N.C.), Nation Ford High School (Fort Mill, S.C.) and Northwestern High School (Rock Hill, S.C.).

“Many thanks to all of our participating high school partners and student blood donors for helping save local lives throughout the year,” said Kim Jones, Director Recruitment & Retention for Community Blood Center of the Carolinas. “We are honored to award these grants because we know how important it is to educate and recognize our young donors – who make up twenty percent of our donor base – while giving back to the local school systems.”

The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas also offers additional opportunities for schools and students to earn scholarships and grants throughout the year. Since 2009, CBCC has awarded more than 300 scholarships and grants. For high schools or students interested in hosting a blood drive, contact Kim Jones at 704-972-4727 or at KLJones@cbcc.us.
