Community Workforce Solutions Raising $50,000 for Training Kitchen

Community Workforce Solutions, Inc., (CWS) a nonprofit organization that provides job training, placement, and community integration opportunities for adults with disabilities or other barriers to employment, is raising necessary funds for the initial equipment needed for a food service training kitchen.

CWS has already raised $27,000 through a 50th anniversary event and a recent Casino Night fundraiser. Online donations can be made to help CWS reach a minimum of $50,000 that is needed to help purchase commercial-grade kitchen equipment to start a food service training program to properly train and prepare individuals for competitive employment in the food industry.

CWS has a strong history of successfully placing and coaching ideal job candidates with disabilities or other employment barriers in various industries, including foods service. A food service training program has been identified as a needed area of focus to strengthen and prepare individuals for rewarding jobs in the restaurant and hospitality industry.

“We are more than halfway to our fundraising goal, and we know we can go above and beyond with help from individual donors, business supporters, community funders and partners,” said Roger McGee, president and executive director of CWS. “We believe that we can place even more people each year with greater long-term success potential if we can provide them with directly transferrable skills.”

Adding a food service training program will enable CWS to train and support individuals seeking restaurant, catering and cafeteria jobs. In addition to job preparation, the program will also teach very important independent living skills, such as healthy meal prep, healthy eating habits and grocery shopping.

Interested donors can support this need through online giving or contact CWS.
