Community Workforce Solutions, Inc., (CWS) a nonprofit organization that provides job training, placement, and community integration opportunities for adults with disabilities or other barriers to employment, hosted its second annual Casino Night fundraiser on March 4 at Marbles Kids Museum.

The event, which included a poker tournament, casino games, a buffet dinner, a magician, and raffles brought the fundraising efforts to purchase commercial-grade kitchen equipment for a new food service training program to $39,193, bringing the agency much closer to its goal of $50,000

Adding a food service training program will enable CWS to support individuals seeking employment in the restaurant and hospitality industry. This new kitchen will also serve as a tool to incorporate valuable life skills such as cooking and nutritious eating into vocational training.

“We are very pleased with the results of our fundraising efforts to provide a new food service training program to people with disabilities or other barriers to employment,” said Roger McGee, CWS President and Executive Director. “We place many people into food service jobs each year without the program. We believe we can significantly increase the number of placements and realize better long-term results once we have the program in place. If anyone else would like to contribute to this much needed program, please see the Donate Now button on our website.”
