The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) will be teaming up with Baxter Village and Cookies for Kids’ Cancer at the “Helping Hands of Baxter Village Hall Blood Drive” on Sunday, April 12. It will be held from 12:30-5:15PM at the Baxter Village Community Center, located at 3387 Richard’s Crossing in Fort Mill.

“Helping Hands” will be in honor and memory of 10 local children who have been impacted by cancer. The following is a list of those being honored: Emma Rose Poplin-Revels (age 4 ½); Daniel Kauffman (age 6); Carson Caskey (age 8); Libby Kern (age 6); Justine Seibel (age 16); Calvin Bradley. The blood drive will also be in memory of Asa Jay Allen, Jenna Witherspoon, Noah Mayberry, and Harlan Sullins. To make an appointment to donate blood, visit www.cbcc.us or call 704-972-4700. Individuals who are not able to attend, can give blood at one of CBCC’s other mobile drives or five donation centers.

“This is a poignant example of both the need for blood and the power of community for patients in need. It is an honor to be part of this annual blood drive with the Baxter Village Community and urge everyone in the area to donate,” said Martin Grable, president and CEO of the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas. “When blood transfusion is required for these Baxter Village and other local cancer patients, it is our local donors who are making a difference.”

As the primary blood supplier to the region, CBCC provides nearly 400 blood products every day to help patients being treated in area hospitals.
