The Greater Raleigh-Durham Chapter 105 of the Institute of Real Estate Management’s (IREM) January meeting will feature guest speaker Glenn French, CPM Emeritus. French will present “IREM Membership: What are Your Objectives?” at noon on Wednesday, January 15th at the Raleigh Board of Realtors located at 111 Realtor’s Way in Cary.

French is president of G. L. French & Associates, Inc., a real estate management consulting firm, and has been a member of IREM for thirty-nine years, as well as a member of its national faculty for thirty-five. He has served as a member of IREM’s national Executive, Long Range Planning and Budget, and Faculty Committees and many others and chaired the Faculty Forum and the Minority Outreach Committees. French is also the recipient of the IREM Foundation’s Lloyd Hanford Distinguished Faculty Award and the Louise and the Y. T. Lum Award for significant contributions to the real estate management profession. He is a member of IREM’s Academy of Authors.

In 1978, French authored the course used by IREM to gain HUD accreditation to train the nation’s public housing managers and also authored the IREM textbook Government-Assisted Housing: Professional Strategies for Site Managers, which has been used by HUD Headquarters, Public Housing Authorities (PHA), private trade associations and housing consultants for training purposes. In 2012, Mayor Nancy McFarlane appointed him to the Board of Directors of DHIC, Inc. a distinguished developer of affordable housing in North Carolina. As a consultant, French has served for the past 10 years as the Executive Director of the Saint Augustine’s University Center for Real Estate Management and Development.

French’s presentation will ask members if they have a plan that creates a purpose for their membership, if IREM membership can contribute to their career goals, and what opportunities are available within IREM to increase their value in the property management industry. French said that he will draw upon his nearly 40 years of membership experience to provide concrete examples as to why existing members, candidates, and prospective new members can benefit by becoming an active member of IREM.

Current IREM president, Crystal Hall, CPM®, says that French’s involvement in IREM for almost forty years has been invaluable and will be a clear asset to Chapter members.

“We’re grateful to Glenn for giving IREM his time and sharing his professional insights with our membership,” says Hall. “His industry knowledge, experience, and expertise make him one of our most valued speakers.”

Prepaid CPM®, ARM®, CPM® Candidates, and Friends of IREM® members are welcome to attend this event free of charge. Guests, Associate members, and Student members should make their payment of $40.00 payable in advance to IREM Chapter 105, 4824 Wyatt Brook Way, Raleigh, NC 27609.
