Jason Hiss Earns Affordable Care Act Certification to Help Employers Prepare for Big Changes in 2016

Jason Hiss, a workforce management consultant for Proliant payroll services, completed the National Association of Health Underwriters Health Care Reform certification course to help employers better understand and prepare for the new regulations that went into effect this year.

“Many employers have been taking a wait-and-see approach hoping that the new requirements might be delayed or even go away,” said Hiss. “However, this week’s Supreme Court decision on King v. Burwell has upheld the law, so employers must take action now in order for their businesses to be ready in time.

“Starting January 2016, all employers with 50 or more full-time equivalent employees will be subject to a penalty of $200 per full-time employee for failing to file 1094-C returns or provide 1095-C statements to employees,” continued Hiss. “Fortunately, Proliant has the technology and expertise to help those employers that are behind, get caught up.”

As a Certified Affordable Care Act Professional, Hiss understands the key technical components of the health care law and is better prepared to help employers avoid hefty penalties and fines for non-compliance.

“Most employers will need to upgrade their current payroll system, and they need an expert to guide them on implementing their Affordable Care Act strategy correctly,” said Hiss.

As a speaker at the 27th Annual Carolinas Payroll Conference presented by the American Payroll Association in November at Myrtle Beach, Hiss will discuss the new 1094-C and 1095-C reporting requirements and how to avoid “Play or Pay” penalties under the Affordable Care Act.
