Bookmark and Share Charlotte, NC - March 19, 2013 -

24 Hours of Booty, Inc. will be the beneficiary of the inaugural Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dash in Charlotte. The 4.8-mile race will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 7:30AM, starting and ending on Greenwich Drive in Cotswold, near the Krispy Kreme on 119 North Sharon Amity Road, and running through the streets of Cotswold.

“As a long-time 24 Hours of Booty supporter and participant, I wanted to do something fun and unique to support this great cause and the fight against cancer,” said Lucy Anderson, who is the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dash organizer, on the Bank of America team and a top 24 Hours of Booty fundraiser. “I am excited about bringing the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dash to Charlotte and appreciate all that they have done to help make my dream with this race idea become a reality.”

During this non-sanctioned 4.8 mile run/walk, participants have the option of signing up either as a competitive or recreational runner. All runners will run the first 2.26 miles. At this point, the competitive runners will eat a dozen doughnuts, and then continue the final 2.54 miles to the finish. The recreational runners may eat as many or few doughnuts as they want, take the rest home to enjoy or elect, at the time of their registration, to donate their doughnuts to the cancer centers.

Event Marketing Services – an affiliate of Run For Your Life – is the timing provider and course consultant for this year’s Doughnut Dash.

Registration is available online at www.krispykremedoughnutdash.com. Entry fees are as follows: $30 until Apr. 13 then $35 from Apr. 14 through May 8. There will be no registration after May 8 and no event-day registration. Proceeds from the event will support the 24 Hours of Booty charity cycling event to fight cancer.

“Lucy [Anderson] is one of our most loyal supporters who continually goes above and beyond to further our mission,” said Basil Lyberg, executive director of 24 Hours of Booty. “This fundraiser definitely takes the ‘doughnut’ in creativity and fun. We look forward to being a part of this debut event that will bring the community together for a great time and important cause.”
