The 14th Annual Links for Lupus Golf Tournament took a swing against lupus and raised $37,000 to support the Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter (LFANC). The event has raised $456,000 since its inception.

Presented by LITTLE Diversified Architectural Consulting, 111 players participated in the Tournament, which took place at Cedarwood Country Club in South Charlotte. The event featured lunch by JJ’s Red Hots, dinner by Dilworth Neighborhood Grille and raffle prizes. More information is available at http://lupuslinks.dojiggy.com/.

“Many thanks to Cedarwood Country Club for hosting us and to our sponsors, players and volunteers who helped make this event a huge success and one of our highest grossing tournaments to date,” said Christine John-Fuller, President and CEO of LFANC. “Not only is this Tournament a wonderful annual tradition, but a chance to golf with a purpose by helping fund support programs and services for the estimated 45,000 people living with lupus throughout North Carolina.”

The inaugural Links for Lupus Golf Tournament commenced in September of 2000, on a green in Charlotte, N.C. Founded by the Family of Bill & Earlene Little, Links for Lupus, has been helping to raise money for LFANC because lupus has touched their family personally with the diagnosis of two family members.

About Lupus:

Lupus is an unpredictable and misunderstood autoimmune disease that ravages different parts of the body. It is difficult to diagnose, hard to live with, and a challenge to treat. Lupus is a cruel mystery because it is hidden from view and undefined, has a range of symptoms, hits out of nowhere, and has no known cause and no known cure. Its health effects can range from a skin rash to a heart attack. Lupus is debilitating and destructive, and can be fatal, yet research on lupus remains underfunded relative to its scope and devastation.

About the Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter

The Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter is part of the national force devoted to solving the cruel mystery of lupus while providing caring support to those who suffer from its brutal impact. We work with local health professionals and volunteers to provide information and programs to ensure people with lupus and their families get answers and health professionals know about new means to diagnose and manage the disease. The chapter serves an estimated 45,000 living with lupus in North Carolina. For more information about lupus or the LFANC, visit www.lupusnc.org or call (877) 849-8271.
